2010 Work in Progress

My passion is exploring and creating communicative connections by combining and playing with various means of expression ranging from painting, sculpture, photography, and architecture to performance, poetry and prose. Using the language of metaphor, symbolism, and context, I enjoy being thought-provoking by juxtaposing objects, imagery, and text in unexpected ways. And yet, I aim at staying viscerally appealing, aesthetically pleasing, and if possible light-hearted in the process. 

My passion has not changed, just my position and perspective as a painter. At least for a while, I have decided to move from the floor and the bird's eye view back to standing in front of an easel, confronting what is in front of me.  Just in case you were wondering: this has absolutely nothing to do with age! :) I am currently exploring and enjoying how that influences the choice of my subject matter and style besides the fact that I have been making custom work (commissions and presents) lately, which asks for versatility. "Lemonade" is an example.

Life is constant flux interspersed with moments of stagnation or so it seems. Do we really know what happens while incubating? Look closely. Traces of Time. Unfolding.
